Welcome Professor Ng Tek Ming as Dean of Information Technology (IT) at AUPP

AUPP is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Ng Tek Ming as Dean of Information Technology (IT). Professor Ng graduated from the National University of Singapore with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He had worked as IT Trainer, Analyst Programmer, Systems Engineer, and Senior IT Officer with different organizations in earlier years of his career.

His academic career started in 1998 when he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the National University of Singapore as a Research Engineer. In 2000, he took the position of a Teaching Assistant in ECE while he pursued his Master of Engineering and then Ph.D. of Engineering in ECE. In recognition of his dedication and commitment to the education of engineering students, the faculty conferred him the Honors List Best Tutor (BEng) award in 2003.

He joined Republic Polytechnic of Singapore (RP) as a lecturer in the School of Infocomm in 2005. In 2007, he enjoyed the distinction of being the sole recipient of RP’s Outstanding Mentor Award. He was also a recipient of RP’s Teaching Excellence Award (2019), Excellent Service Award-Star (2016), Most Innovative Project Award (2016), and Excellent Service Award-Gold (2013). His contribution and dedication to mentoring and nurturing students had also led him to receive RP’s 100 Most Appreciated Mentors Award every year, from 2011 to 2019.

“I first visited AUPP in 2018. The thing that impressed me most was the attitude and behavior of the students. They were so respectful and polite. That is also the single most important reason that made me joined AUPP. I strongly believe the attitude of a person determines the altitude of his success in life. I am blessed to have spent 15 years of my academic career at Republic Polytechnic. It has given me a very valuable experience in holistic education, and I would like to bring that experience to contribute to AUPP.  For the IT faculty, I want to make our IT degrees attractive and relevant to the IT industry. This can be achieved by creating more courses in in-demand fields like Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, and Data Science, and by providing more opportunities for students to take courses leading to IT certifications. I aspire to see AUPP being the leading university in IT. Together we can do it!”
