Som Randa, a Cambodian-American student, recently visited AUPP to share his
success story with the University’s students. Som won first place in a 2013 math
competition among 2 million competitors in the United States. That same year, Mr.
Som was awarded a full life-long scholarship by the Bill Gates Foundation.
Currently, Som is pursuing his Bachelors of Biology and Business at the
University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School—the world number one
business school.
Mr. Som shared with AUPP students his own experience of successfully applying
for a very competitive U.S. scholarship. Som expressed how honored he felt to be
one of the few students across the United States awarded a scholarship for long-life
studies. Som also shared ideas with AUPP outstanding students about how they
could obtain scholarships to study in the U.S. Som was particularly pleased to be
able to visit with Loem Mengsay (the number one Cambodian mathematics student
in 2015).
AUPP is proud to have Som Randa come and share his successful experience with
the University’s students.
