The American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) will be a leading center of academic excellence in Cambodia and in Asia.

Mission

AUPP is a private English language higher-education institution in Cambodia, offering high-quality American-style education that is grounded in the latest teaching & learning theories and the culture of Cambodia and Asia.

The university fosters socially responsible behavior, life-long learning, and academic and professional excellence, producing critical thinkers, innovators, and ethical leaders who will make significant contributions.

AUPP Strategic Plan 2024–2029: Guiding Themes

The American University of Phnom Penh’s five-year strategic plan is anchored on four core guiding themes that shape our vision and drive institutional excellence:

Engagement

At AUPP, we will drive community engagement and socio-economic through active participation in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, scholarships, and organizing charitable programs, and opening our campus to the community.

Partnerships with industry leaders and Chambers of Commerce will be established to co-develop innovative, work-ready programs aligned with real-world needs. Through these collaborations, the classroom will be taken out to industry and the industry brought into the classroom—creating a dynamic learning ecosystem.

Growth & Development

Growth at AUPP will be driven not only by the expansion of academic programs and increased enrollment but also by the development of our people. Professional development opportunities for both staff and faculty will be prioritized, fostering a culture of continuous learning and positioning AUPP as an employer of choice.

Sustainable growth will be supported through a balanced expansion of both undergraduate and postgraduate student bodies, ensuring long-term institutional strength.

The academic portfolio will continue to grow with in-demand programs that meet future market needs while empowering our community to thrive.

Thought Leadership

Thought leadership will be advanced through dedicated research centers and the Emerging Technologies Lab, enabling AUPP faculty and partners to drive innovation and influence policy. The university’s academic community will be positioned at the forefront of education, technology, and regional development.

Collaboration and networking with researchers across the region—in fields such as Education, Humanities, Digital Technologies, and Economics—will be actively pursued to strengthen AUPP’s intellectual contribution and impact.

Through these efforts, we will influence, inspire, and lead in shaping education, industry, and government policies and practices.

Innovation

Innovation at AUPP will be driven by the integration of advanced technologies—such as augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and smart classrooms—into teaching and learning. Instructional methods will continue to evolve toward more interactive, experiential, and student-centered approaches that enhance engagement and real-world readiness.

Work-based learning opportunities and the Emerging Technologies Lab will equip students with practical skills to navigate and lead in a rapidly changing world. Beyond the classroom, the AUPP Technology Center will continue to support entrepreneurial initiatives, helping both undergraduate and postgraduate students develop and sustain their ventures even after graduation.
