The AUPP family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Raymond Leos, AUPP’s esteemed Vice President, Academic Services. He was a prominent educator and leader who dedicated over two decades of his life to the advancement of higher education in Cambodia.
Originally from California, United States, Professor Leos leaves behind a legacy characterized by unwavering commitment to teaching, mentorship, and community engagement. Throughout his career, Dr. Leos was a devoted mentor and advisor, guiding students and colleagues alike, and playing a key role in shaping the educational landscape in Cambodia. His dedication went beyond the classroom as he served as a government advisor and development consultant, working tirelessly to promote academic excellence and foster meaningful connections within the community.
Dr. Leos’ contributions to higher education and his profound impact on the lives of those he encountered will be remembered with gratitude and respect. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge.
In addition to his distinguished career in education, Dr. Leos was a passionate and dedicated member of the Cambodian community, holding a deep appreciation for Khmer culture. An avid reader, he delighted in sharing his enthusiasm for history. During his leisure time, he found joy in swimming and boxing. Dr. Leos cherished every opportunity to engage in conversations and connect with fellow Cambodians.
We extend our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time and our thoughts are with his family in the United States, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing Dr. Leos. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
AUPP will be hosting a memorial service to honor the life and contributions of Dr. Raymond Leos on Wednesday, November 6th (whole day), at the AUPP campus and a traditional ceremony on Thursday, November 7th, 9AM at Wat Steung Meanchey. These ceremonies will be an occasion for all to come together and celebrate his remarkable life and enduring legacy.
