Meng Hong graduated from the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP) in 2022 with a dual degree in Business Administration (University of Arizona). He is now enrolled in the University College London (UCL)’s postgraduate program, majoring in Banking and Digital Finance MSc.
“I am currently enrolled in University College London (UCL)’s postgraduate program, Banking and Digital Finance MSc which is starting this September. This program focuses on all aspects of the financial sector by giving students a broader view into the international banking and financial system from both practical and theoretical points of view. As a prospective UCL’s postgraduate student, I am looking forward to building upon my current knowledge of finance and exploring the use of technological solutions in today’s banking industry like the use of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.
My first advice to all fellow students at AUPP is to understand yourself. You need to assess your strengths and weaknesses so that you can identify which specialization or area of focus suits you the most. Studying a subject that you are enthusiastic about is particularly important because it will have a significant impact on the satisfaction you would have when doing your master’s. You can do so by simply observing your grades in subjects that you have taken at AUPP and do a self-reflection with it. My second advice is to start preparing yourself early. Remember that it is never early to start your master’s degree application process. All universities, regardless of their prestige, require applicants to show some extent of commitment to your master studies. You can enjoy a slight advantage over others if you prepare yourself well. You can show that you are the right candidate by starting from smaller things like ensuring you use correct spellings in your personal statement to getting straight A in your current courses. Lastly, do not forget that everyone lives differently which means that we all live in different timelines. You do not have to start your master studies right away after your graduation just because every friend of yours is doing so. On the other hand, if you are sure that you are ready for higher education, do not hesitate. Believe in yourself and submit that application to your dream university! Good luck in your future journeys and make your family proud!”
