Mr. Macit Koc is currently the Director of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center located in Abuja, Nigeria. He has served the Yunus Emre Institution since 2016 as an Advisor while working as a University Industry Linkage Advisor, under the Engineering Education Capacity Building Program, by Ministry of Education and recruited by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services), at Mekelle University, Ethiopia. During his tenure at Yunus Emre Institute, he was in charge of Sub-Saharan Africa activities of TABIP (Turkish Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project) project under the auspices of Turkish Presidency where he led the delegation to establish academic and cultural relationships in Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia.
During the years of 2017-2020, Mr. Koc coordinated the Mobile mathematics/science museum where it was exhibited in major cities in Ethiopia. As a University Industry Linkage Advisor, he established the first Career Center in the country and directed it before handing over his duties to local staff as part of capacity building requirement. He previously held various positions in the public and private sector, mainly in the fields of higher education, in Europe, MENA, East and West Africa and Gulf regions. He is the founder and director of the cultural center in Abuja which operates under the Turkish Embassy as part of the diplomatic mission. He manages a staff of eight including two teachers. He currently resides in Abuja, his education and business related travels include over seventy countries.
Previous positions include, Lecturer and International Relations Specialist at Yasar University, Turkey, Lecturer at Ministry of Higher Education, Department of International Business Administration, College of Applied Sciences in Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman, Lecturer at University of New York in Tirana, Albania, Faculty, of Business Administration Department, International University of Grand Bassam, Cote d’ Ivoire and Lecturer, at the Department of Business, American University of Iraq-Sulaimani. He also served in many committees as the chair of the recruitment committee and student’s learning committees at American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, Iraq. A skilled professional with fifteen years of diverse experience in academia, mainly in international higher education and has more than fifteen years of specialized experience in training, managing and passionate about mentoring, empowering, and capacity building, particularly motivated to use this experience in developing countries.
