Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Nulla is originally from Myanmar. Most of his life journey transpired in Canada, from education to work experience. He holds Canadian citizenship. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto, an MBA & MSc from Heriot-Watt University, a Ph.D. with distinction in Business Administration from Azteca University, and a D.Phil. in Accounting with distinction from UGSM Monarch Business School Switzerland.
Upon invitation, he traveled worldwide to perform academic duties at various universities and colleges. He started his academic career as an MBA graduate in 2006 as a business instructor with the Canadian All Care College. He then went back to the corporate sector for better incentives by joining various organizations in Canada as Director of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Financial Analyst. Once he obtained his doctoral degrees in 2014, the Arab Open University Kuwait offered him an opportunity to teach as an assistant professor of business, focusing on undergraduate courses in accounting and management. He then served at Higher Colleges of Technology UAE as a faculty member, focused on undergraduate accounting courses. Business. He also served seasonally as an instructor for the American University of Iraq Sulaimani and Jilin Normal University, where he taught graduate and undergraduate management courses. His postgraduate experience gained from the University of Liverpool, where he was a lecturer/DBA thesis supervisor, successfully supervised DBA thesis students. While he was supervising, he successfully completed the one-year DBA thesis supervisor mentoring program with the University of Liverpool. He had also been associated with the Global Humanistic University as a professor/module leader, developed eight new MBA courses in leadership, organizational behavior, management accounting, corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and research planning and strategy.
Besides his teaching profile, he had also contributed to the community of academic research. He had published 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including six articles in the SCOPUS database with the ABDC “B” publications, and others are listed in ABDC “B” & “C” publications, VBH, and the Scimago journals index. He also had published articles in emerging journals that were not listed in the ABDC journal index. He is also an active reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals listed in the ABDC journal index and an editorial board member of the Risk Governance and Control: Financial Markets and Institutions journal. His research philosophy focused on emerging topics that are related to current market trends and global business conditions in economics, such as social technology and digital assets, and unusual market behaviors’ impact on industry and corporate performances. Throughout his research journey, he admired and got direction from the work of many research scholars and networking in ResearchGate, Social Science Research Index, and Academia.edu.
His corporate experience journey allowed him to serve as Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance, Treasurer, and Financial Analyst for many industry sectors in Canada, such as nonprofit organizations, Canadian federal government agencies, and profit enterprises.
He believes leadership skills stem from academic knowledge, training, and experience gained in industries and academic institutions. Through this leadership experience, he served in corporate management and academic roles.
He believes community engagement is important to understand group/society situations and fulfill moral and ethical requirements embedded in a living person. He served as a personal tax filing coordinator in the Toronto area for many years, filing annual tax returns for seniors and low-income individuals during tax season. He also had actively contributed to various community projects.
