Dr. Walt Smith is an instructor of History in AUPP’s Department of Social Sciences. He has been a teacher at both the high school and university levels since graduating from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 2010 with a BA in History. He received an MA in Teaching in 2012 while he was a high school World Geography and Government teacher in Louisiana, USA.
In 2015 Dr. Smith moved to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where he taught World Civilizations and English at a university there. He later moved back to the USA and taught AP Human Geography to high school students who gained university credits for their success in the course. And in 2024 Dr. Smith received an EdD from the University of Louisiana Monroe. His dissertation concerned new-teacher retention in Louisiana and the United States as a whole.
