Mr. Terence Mallon is an English Instructor in the Faculty of Social Sciences. He holds a Masters Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Queen’s University of Belfast, as well as both a Cambridge CELTA Certificate and TEFL Certificate. Further to his English Language teaching qualifications, Mr. Mallon also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law. He has worked as both an Architectural Designer (U.K. and Germany) and as a Barrister-at-Law (Private Practice and as a Public Prosecutor in the U.K.) in the past. Mr. Mallon takes those earlier skills of advocacy, research and creativity into his English Language teaching.
He has been teaching since 2006 and has worked in eight different countries in a wide range of academic leadership and teaching roles: Bahrain (Lecturer of Human Rights in English); Cambodia (Campus Director, Campus Manager, Lead Teacher, Teacher and Lecturer), China (Acting Academic Head and Foundation Year Head), Indonesia (Instructor), Iraq (Instructor), Japan (Academic Manager), Myanmar (Instructor), and Thailand (Assistant Director, Lecturer and Teacher).
In the classroom, his aim is to develop the students’ confidence, ability to have an informed opinion on issues and overall rigor in their work. In 2026, Mr. Mallon joins the Faculty of Social Sciences and will be teaching Composition. His areas of research interest are academic skills and professional skills. He is delighted to join the AUPP Team and looks forward to developing its research portfolio.
