JT McCall is an American poet, educator, and academic professional with over 10 years of international teaching experience in higher education and English language instruction. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the GEPP Program at the American University of Phnom Penh. Throughout his career, he has worked in Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China, Turkey, and the United States, teaching diverse groups of adult learners in academic, professional, and intensive English programs.
JT specializes in Academic English, IELTS preparation, ESL/EFL instruction, curriculum design, and student-centered learning methodologies. His professional background includes work with high-stakes assessment programs and military-adjacent educational environments, where he contributed to significant improvements in student achievement and program outcomes. He is CELTA certified and has extensive experience teaching students from multilingual and cross-cultural backgrounds.
In addition to his academic work, JT McCall is a published poet, folk musician, and writer whose creative work explores themes of history, identity, theology, horror, race, memory, and power. His literary influences range from Countee Cullen to contemporary horror and speculative traditions. He holds a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Fordham University.
His current professional and research interests include academic writing pedagogy, cross-cultural communication, horror and speculative literature, language acquisition, and the integration of technology into higher education classrooms.
