1. Could you tell us about yourself?
My name is PISETH Sunfebrida. I am currently serving as the president of the Student Government Association 10th Mandate, and a senior majoring in law. Throughout my years in university, I have always felt deeply committed to leadership and social justice, which is why I’ve chosen to pursue a career in law. I gained a strong interest in understanding the legal system and how it can be used to create positive change. I’m particularly drawn to the idea of using law to protect the rights of individuals and promote fairness in society.
Beyond my studies, my role as the president of the SGA has allowed me to work on issues that directly affect students, whether it’s advocating for their needs or ensuring that the voices of underrepresented groups on campus are heard. The experience has taught me the importance of listening, problem-solving, and collaborating with others to create solutions that benefit everyone.
Outside of my academic and leadership roles, I am someone who values close connections with my family and friends, as they provide me with the support and perspective I need to keep pushing forward.
2. Could you tell us about the achievements you are most proud of?
I am most proud of several accomplishments that reflect my passion for law and my commitment to making a positive impact in my community. As a law student, I’ve worked hard to balance academics with extracurricular involvement. One of my proudest achievements is my current work on publishing a law article on fashion waste. This project allows me to explore the intersection of environmental law and social responsibility, and I’m excited to contribute to the conversation on how the legal field can address sustainable practices in the fashion industry.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I’m also honored to serve as the president of the Student Government Association. In this role, I’ve had the opportunity to advocate for my fellow students, organize impactful events, and bring the student body together.
Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern at SP&P law firm where I got to apply my legal knowledge in a professional setting, gaining invaluable insights into the legal industry, and developing a practical understanding of how legal principles are implemented in practice.
Finally, I’m particularly proud of organizing a book charity drive, which raised funds and collected books for local underprivileged students.
These achievements helped me grow as a student, a leader, and an advocate, and I look forward to building on these experiences as I continue my journey in law.
3. Could you tell us about one thing or experience you encountered that changed your life?
One experience that profoundly changed my life was my summer internship at SP&P law firm. Before this internship, I had a broad understanding of law, but I hadn’t truly grasped the emotional and personal impact the law can have on people’s lives. At the law firm, I worked on cases involving custody disputes, divorce proceedings, and land disputes. I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the ways in which the law can provide stability and resolution for families in crisis.
It was during this case that I truly understood the power of the law in protecting vulnerable individuals. I saw how legal professionals could be advocates for people who are at their lowest point, helping them rebuild their lives and regain their sense of security.
This internship not only solidified my decision to pursue a career in law, but it also strengthened my desire to work in a field where I could make a difference in people’s lives. The experience taught me that the law is not just a profession, it’s a way to advocate for justice and protect those who need it the most.
4. Who is the person you look up to the most?
The two people I look up to the most are my parents, each of whom has significantly shaped my character and life choices. My mother, a dedicated housewife, has taught me invaluable lessons in patience, selflessness, and resilience. Her ability to manage our home and support our family with unwavering love and calmness has shown me that strength often comes in quiet forms. From her, I’ve learned the importance of nurturing relationships and maintaining balance, qualities that I rely on daily as I navigate both my academic and leadership roles.
My father, who works in the legal field, is a constant source of inspiration. His dedication to justice, analytical thinking, and ethical integrity influenced my decision to pursue law. Through his example, I’ve developed a deep commitment to advocating for others and a strong sense of responsibility in challenging situations.
As both a law student and the president of the Student Government Association, I find that the qualities I admire in my parents are crucial to my success. My mother’s patience and nurturing nature help me listen to others and handle conflict thoughtfully, while my father’s logical approach and commitment to justice guide my decisions and advocacy.
5. What are the steps you took that led you to where you are right now?
First, my decision to pursue law was driven by a deep interest in justice and a desire to advocate for others. I focused on building a strong academic foundation, dedicating myself to my studies, and seeking opportunities to deepen my understanding of the legal system. Throughout my academic career, I’ve consistently sought out opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, which led me to secure an internship at SP&P law firm last summer. There, I gained practical legal experience, improved my research and writing skills, and realized how important it is to make an impact through law.
Alongside my academics, I actively pursued leadership opportunities, believing that effective leaders are those who understand and represent the needs of others. This mindset led me to run for president of the Student Government Association, where I now advocate for my peers, organize events, and build a stronger sense of community on campus. I’ve learned the importance of patience, communication, and empathy, and these skills have not only helped me lead but have also enriched my understanding of law and advocacy.
Additionally, I’ve sought to make an impact outside of my studies by engaging in community-focused projects. For example, I organized a successful book charity drive and also in the process of publishing a law article on fashion waste. These experiences have allowed me to combine my passion for law with my commitment to social causes.
Each of these steps are crucial in shaping who I am today: a law student, a leader, and an advocate. I continue to build on these experiences, always seeking ways to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful change.
6. What are the happiest moments of your life?
The happiest moments of my life are always the ones with my family and close friends. There’s something fulfilling about the time spent with people who know you best, support you unconditionally, and celebrate your successes alongside you. Whether it’s a simple dinner at home or a vacation we all take together, these moments remind me of the importance of love, connection, and support. It’s during these times that I truly feel at peace and grounded, knowing that I have a strong support system behind me.
One particularly joyful moment was when I was elected president of the student government. While this was a huge personal achievement, the real happiness came from sharing that moment with my family and friends, who had supported me throughout the entire campaign.
7. Is there any advice to the people that look up to you?
To those who look up to me, my advice is simple: always stay true to your values and never lose sight of your personal goals, even in the face of challenges. Leadership isn’t about perfection; it’s about authenticity, resilience, and the ability to serve others with integrity. Be open to learning from others and be willing to embrace feedback. The best leaders are those who continuously grow and evolve.
Another advice I would offer is to never underestimate the importance of building meaningful relationships. Whether it’s with family, friends or colleagues, the support system you cultivate will be one of your greatest assets throughout your personal and professional journey. Surround yourself with people who support you, inspire you, and lift you up. These relationships will be the foundation for your success.
Finally, don’t be afraid to take risks and fail. Failure is often the best lesson. Embrace setbacks as opportunities for growth, and always stay focused on your long-term vision. With hard work, perseverance, and a strong sense of purpose, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
