Christina DeCoursey PhD is an Associate Professor at the American University in Phnom Penh. Recently, she was Division Head (Humanities) at Innopolis University in the Russian Federation. Dr. DeCoursey values research and writing, which have been the foundation for her career path. She is on the Editorial Board of the Asian Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies and the Journal of Chinese Society and Culture, and the International Management Committee of the Australian National University’s Institute for Research in Healthcare Communication. She founded and ran the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s MA in English Language Arts, organised its annual “Language Arts and Linguistics” conference, edited its proceedings, and founded and edited the Taylor and Francis journal Language Arts and Linguistics with Michael Halliday and Christian Matthiessen. She was on the International Steering Committee for’s annual Experiential Learning in Virtual Worlds Conference, and edited two volumes of its proceedings. As chair of the Department of English Linguistics and Translation at the American University of Science and Technology in Beirut, Lebanon, she worked with refugees in the area of healthcare communication, and served as TESOL ESP rep (Middle East). As Director of Writing Programs at the American University in Bulgaria, and later the Arthur Samy Language Learning Centre at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, she gained experience with English language teaching and testing. She did her post-doctoral fellowship at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. Dr. DeCoursey is also an advanced open-water diver, and enjoys history and archaeology.
