Job Summary

The Student Affairs Officer (SAO) is responsible for executing student affairs programming in relation to student clubs, leadership opportunities, field trips, community service activities, residence life, and Student Government Association. The SAO also collaborates with AUPP departments to create activities and events when needed.

Job Responsibilities

Facilitate student programs that interface with academic programs, while including a focus on leadership, career development, communication, community service, and initiate programs when there is a need.
Oversee student clubs and student participation in special events.
Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to create leadership opportunities for students on- and off-campus.
Support the operations of the Student Government Association while being the primary contact for the organization.
Facilitate the residence life programming, including but not limited to tenant recruitment, payments, resolving operational and social issues, and being the primary contact for tenants at the women’s and men’s dorm.
Support students with regards to study abroad and international exchange programs, as necessary.
In collaboration with the Director of Student Affairs, the SAO creates, updates, and implements the student handbook; the SAO also develops and implements student support and student affairs policy and regulations with DSA’s support.
Develop and evaluate student learning outcomes from student affairs programming for continuous quality improvement.
Assist in reports on the student affairs portion of accreditation standards.
Engage in professional development opportunities related to student life programming.
Provide mentorship, socio-emotional support, and guidance to students on a case-by-case basis and under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, humanities, leadership, or education. Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
Experience working in a higher education environment while working directly with students.
Strong command of the English and Khmer language.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well with, and respect young adults.
Knowledge of student development theory and ability to engage in theory practice is preferred.
Willing to work nights and weekends as student activities.
