AUPP students led a field trip with over 80 students to Siem Reap for some activities and relaxation.  We had the opportunity to experience the opening of a brand new 5 – star resort; The Memoire Palace Resort which had a beautiful pool, impeccable service and excellent food.  Words can barely describe the awe felt in anticipation upon arrival.  This was truly a once in a lifetime experience for some, being pampered like a celebrity on a school sponsored trip.  In addition, there were many cultural stops and sights to be seen. We were given the opportunity to see the ruins of Angkor Wat and Prasat Sambor Prei Kuk, which was a great cultural experience.

Although many of the AUPP students have already seen these sights, the significance is still apparent as major landmarks of their heritage.  Something you have to witness to truly understand the impact.  The real main focus of the trip was to provide a leisurely experience for students to unwind after a difficult week of finals and relax in a tourist hotspot.  We wanted the students to have every chance to enjoy their time before the beginning of the fall semester and they were able to do just that.  The evening entertainment culminated with relaxing by one of the three pools and venturing out to pub street, the main nightlife attraction in Siem Reap.  Temple Club was very accommodating to our students and provided a send off party were students could unwind.  You can tell a trip was successful when the energy on the return bus ride is the same as the initial ride.  Overall, the trip was an unforgettable affair and will be a positive outlet of discussion for future excursions.  When there is a combination of fun, education, safety, and enchantment student life really achieves its peak; who would not want to partake in such an event given the opportunity?
